One of my absolute favorite things about living in the Solheimar Ecovillage is participating in the workshops. I look forward to Wednesday (the day we go to them) every single week. From woodworking to weaving, from soap making to Sunna (the greenhouse) I always look forward to whatever workshop I am participating in that day.
It is not just the actual physical attendance that is so much fun, not to say that working with plants in Sunna or making soap in the soap making workshop isn’t fun on its own, it is the people that I am able to interact wit
h during the workshops. Sometimes it is the heads of the workshop, sometimes it is the interns who work there, and almost always, it is the home people who work there. Talking with the heads of the workshops is great. They are so willing to share what they know with you and some of them are amazing conversationalists. The interns are always fun to talk with no matter what you are doing. The home people though, the workshops is where I have found that they can really open up to you.
Spending a whole afternoon talking with the home people or just sitting with them if they don’t feel like talking is an amazing experience. They are always so friendly and if they are ones who talk much, they will almost always try to talk with you somehow. These small interactions are what make living in this type of place so amazing.
