Tight knit communities have the ability to reduce consumerism, reduce dependence on traditional markets in our economy, preserve resources for future generations, and easily adapt to new conditions and ideas. My action plan is to build community in my neighborhood at home where very few people know each other and each house appears to strive for independence. By holding potluck dinners at my home and creating a skills bank I hope to show my neighborhood that living as an interdependent community can save time, money and resources and be a rewarding and fulfilling experience.
