Overview of Bookkeeper/Office Manager Position:

The candidate for this position must have a demonstrated commitment to CELL’s mission. Additionally, the candidate must have bookkeeping (Quickbooks) experience,  strong administrative and organizational skills, effective interpersonal and written communication skills, be a creative thinker, possess high integrity, be able to problem-solve, enjoy networking with individuals and organizations, have a willingness to do whatever is needed in a small office setting, and have a desire to make a positive difference in the world. Finally, the candidate must be able to work independently and take initiative while also being skilled at working in a team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Bookkeeper/Office Manager will be responsible for the efficient functioning of the CELL home office. Tasks include:

  1. Managing financial systems for a non profit organization, including: Quickbooks record keeping, report generation, etc.
  2. Recruiting, interviewing, and tracking student applicants for CELL programs.
  3. Following-up with current and future CELL students, including maintaining student records and data base.
  4. Maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff and agency information.
  5. Assisting with new and ongoing program logistics and schedules.
  6. Assisting with marketing, which may include: representing CELL at study abroad fairs; updating CELL’s Facebook and website, blogs, and brochures; mailing information to colleges and partnering organizations; updating online marketing efforts; etc.
  7. Making travel and insurance arrangements and other administrative tasks as needed.
  8. Conducting research; preparing materials and reports; compiling data for presentation to the directors, staff, partners, and board.
  9. Assisting with fundraising activities.
  10. Assisting with board communications and follow-up.
  11. Other duties as assigned by the directors.

  3. Ability to research and synthesize key ideas.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  5. Ability to take initiative while also being a supportive and cooperative team member.
  6. Strong customer service ethic.
  7. Knowledge of principles and practices of organizational management, planning, records keeping, and general administration.
  8. Ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to, computers, telephone systems, calculators, copiers, and facsimile machines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. College degree in appropriate field.
  2. Office experience.
  3. Commitment to sustainability.

Hours:

Full-time position. This position provides the satisfaction of knowing that the work you are doing is helping to grow an organization committed to making our planet a healthier and more sustainable place to live.

Rate of pay and benefits:

Salary based on experience

Employer contribution toward retirement and health insurance

Two paid vacation days earned per month + 12 holidays annually
