I think the most surprising thing about coming to Iceland has been that I have found a group of people who I can say, without reservation, have become my friends. With the end of our stay quickly approaching my thoughts have wandered to the post-trip experience and I can’t help but feel I will miss the microcosm I’ve become accustomed to with its medley of personalities. I have a great amount of respect for each and every person within this group and feel both proud and privileged to have made their acquaintance.
I’m not always the biggest fan of technology, but this is a prime example of why I can appreciate it at times. Most of us in the group use some form of social media and I plan to take advantage of it to keep in touch long after we say our farewells. I feel it’s tragic that so many people allow themselves to have life-changing experiences with others and then allow them to slip away. What a strange and cold society we have developed where this seems to be more common than not. I will admit that I have been a party to this in the past, but I would like to make a sincere effort to turn over a new leaf.
